Gingerbread Hojicha Latte

It’s already Christmas Eve and I wanted to introduce this hojicha latte inspired by gingerbread cookies. Starbucks makes a gingerbread latte that I like, but only a coffee version of this drink is currently available in Japan. So I decided to make a hojicha version for myself!! 😊

:: Today’s Recipe ::
Hojicha                  8g
Water                    150ml
Milk                      150ml
Ground ginger           3 pinches
Ground cinnamon    2 pinches
Ground clove             2 pinches
Maple syrup               1 teaspoon

  1. Put water and hojicha in to a pot and allow it to boil. Turn the heat on low and leave it for 4 minutes.
  2. Pour in to a cup through a tea strainer. Add all of the spices and maple syrup and stir.
  3. Heat the milk using a microwave and whip the milk with a milk frother. Place the whipped milk over the hojicha and you are done!

If you don’t have a frother you can add milk to the pan after simmering the hojicha in the water. Allow it to boil again with the milk. Also, if you want to use whole spices you can add those together with the hojicha in to a pan.

I think this is perfect to drink all year round! Hojicha contains less caffeine so you can drink this when you want to relax in the evening too. Why not give it a try this festive season!! 😁🎅
